The Blue Springs Evergreen Vanuatu Golf Open 2019 has been played and won.

In a thrilling final day the punters were kept guessing as the overnight leader Alex Edge saw is slender overnight lead disappear into the trees on the 7th which saw Burdett can a 30 foot eagle putt whilst Edge could only manage bogey saw his lead gone by the turn and with work to do to recover the top spot.

The 2nd last group included Michael Wright and Christopher Wood who were both playing well but needed the leader to make some mistakes if their scores were to have a chance.

By the 15th Hole things had tightened up and on 16 Wright birdied to suddenly found himself with a one shot lead and a playoff loomed large..

Burdett failed to capitalise on a great drive on 16 and on 17 both Wright and Burdett could only manage bogey leaving the 18th to decide the VGO champion for 2019.

Wright took control after a great 2nd shot to 4 feet and he birdied to be the leader in the clubhouse and could only look on as Burdett’s 2nd shot on 18 found the putting surface  but a good 20 feet left for birdie to force a playoff.

Burdett calmly stroked in the 20 footer and so the playoff was on.

Burdett won the toss on the 18th tee for a “sudden death” playoff required due to failing light.

Burdett’s drive found the centre of the fairway whilst Wright found tree trouble right.

A wayward 2nd from Burdett and a brilliant 3rd shot recovery from Wright saw both players playing from the bunker. Neither could make their putts and Burdett claimed his first VGO title and the winner’s share of the AUD$50,000 purse

Congratulations to Adam Burdett and to all of the professional who made the event so great in 2019
